Swiss-based company, Membrane & Water
Technologies AG, (MWT), were chosen to supply and install the
plant at a project cost of over £150,000. MWT were shortlisted
after Johnson Matthey carried out a full review of water recycling
processes available both in the UK and overseas.
In keeping with Johnson Matthey's
environmental policies for waste management and recycling, the
new plant will perform a significant part in recycling water,
thereby conserving local supplies as well as reducing costs to
the company. In the past, water used in the process has been
passed straight to an effluent treatment plant at a cost to Johnson
Matthey of £95,000 per year.
Johnson Matthey has a long history
in the conservation and recovery of scarce resources. Many of
the company's products are subsequently recovered and reused
through a process of refining, manufacture and re-supply. Johnson
Matthey's commitment to quality has been recognised by Lloyds
Register Quality Assurance and the Plating Services Business
has held ISO9002 accreditation since 1986.
